Connected Minds, Connected Bodies. Enjoy a weekend of mindful massage practice.  Learn to give and receive with ease and gentleness. Recharge in the sauna, swim in the pond, enjoy nature walks and take in the sun, while our chef prepares a delicious selection of healthy meals to complement your rejuvenating experience at Peace Temple.

About this retreat

On this retreat we will learn to deepen our connection to the present moment, so that we can begin to feel meridians and the subtle energy in the body. Through the practice of Shiatsu we can cultivate greater self-awareness and empathy, improving our relationship, with both ourselves and others. The simple act of touching a meridian can have a profound healing effect on the body and mind.

There will be optional mediations in the morning and night, qigong and assisted stretching exercises. At night time there will be music by the fire, and time to relax and reflect on the day. To feel meridians you need the right balance of mindfulness and concentration and the right balance of ease and effort. Peace Temple is the perfect environment for this kind of subtle learning.

This retreat is appropriate for people of all levels and all the massage and stretching will be performed clothed.

Benefits of Shiatsu practice

Deepens Mindfulness Practice: Shiatsu massage provides an opportunity to deepen our mindfulness practice and cultivate greater awareness of our bodies and minds. Through this practice, we can learn to be more present in the moment, fostering a sense of inner peace and tranquility.

Promotes Healing and Compassion: Shiatsu massage can be approached as a form of compassionate service, promoting healing and well-being for both ourselves and others. Through the practice of self-care, we can cultivate greater empathy and compassion, deepening our connection to the world around us.

Enhances Spiritual Connection: By becoming more attuned to the subtle energy within our bodies, shiatsu massage can help us develop a deeper understanding of our interconnectedness with all things. This can foster a sense of spiritual connection and support our journey towards greater awakening.

Balances and Harmonizes Energy: Shiatsu massage can help balance and harmonize the flow of energy within the body, promoting a sense of inner balance and harmony. This can help to support overall health and well-being, as well as emotional and spiritual growth.

Supports Self-Care and Self-Love: Through the practice of shiatsu massage, we can develop greater self-awareness and self-love, nurturing a deeper connection to ourselves and our own needs. This can help to promote greater self-care and self-compassion, supporting our journey towards greater inner peace and well-being.

Facilitators

Matthew Broudy –  I first fell in love with massage as an undergraduate student in Japan. I had the opportunity while living in Kyoto to study Tao Shiatsu with Ryoko Endo. Where I learned to feel meridians, and engage in deep communication with the receiver.  Later I would travel to Thailand to study Thai Massage and Accupressure. After completing several Thai massage workshops with the Sunshine Network, I was introduced to a martial artist and Dr of Traditional Chinese Medicine, who I lived with for 4 months.   Further deepening my understanding of the meridians on a practical level.  I have always been a mentor to other therapists, in massage school and in my 10+ years of professional career.   I really enjoyed the experience of sharing some of the teachings at Peace Temple last year and look forward to going even deeper in a formal retreat.

Vladimir Kuperman – Creator of Peace Temple – a spiritual retreat center in the beautiful Catskill Mountains, devoted to creating and holding peaceful and inspiring community events, where creativity, spiritual growth, sustainability, respect for nature, and respect for each other are practiced. Besides hosting the retreat, Vladimir will lead a sound bath session, nature hike and facilitate Central American Sauna.
