Learn, experience, play, and connect through the medium of Japanese inspired rope bondage. This weekend retreat, designed for all levels of experience, explores intimacy, connectivity, and creativity within the realm of Shibari, movement practice, and alternative community building.
Recharge in the sauna, swim in the pond, enjoy nature walks and take in the sun, while our chef prepares a delicious selection of healthy meals to complement your rejuvenating experience at Peace Temple.
Retreat program
Step away from the chaos of daily life and immerse yourself in the serene beauty of Peace Temple to learn, experience, and play. This weekend retreat explores intimacy, connection, and creativity through Shibari, movement practice, and intentional community building. Whether you’re an experienced practitioner or completely new, you’re invited to deepen your practice in a shared container of openness and care. This retreat offers a supportive space to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and connect with friends old and new.
Swim in the pond, take a nature walk, nap in a sunlit field, explore a winding creek, discover the secret chess room, or cozy up by the fire. Peace Temple’s facilities are rich with quiet corners and playful surprises that will reward your curiosity.
Throughout the weekend, you can choose from a thoughtfully curated blend of offerings from expert facilitators and educators. Dive deep into your rope education by taking every single rope class, or take a step back and focus on the morning movement classes. Be social in the discussion based offerings and group activities, or spend quality solo time. Relish in the intensity of a group sauna experience and facilitator performances, or choose softness and restoration by attending the morning sound bath. Leave behind your expectations and craft a weekend schedule that fits you.
The weekend’s activities are accompanied by nutritious, delicious, and hearty meals cooked on site by a private chef, included in the cost of the retreat.
There are no skill prerequisites to attend this retreat and all levels are encouraged to attend. There will be two tracks of classes: one for intermediate to advanced level students, and one for beginner students. Please see the example schedule from last year’s retreat below:
Prerequisites
This weekend is meant for advanced practitioners only. All rope classes will be at a suspension or equivalent level, and participants are expected to meet the following prerequisites:
Riggers must be able to confidently tie several suspendable harnesses, confidently build and manage multiple uplines, have excellent in scene communication skills, and be well informed on safety and risk in rope suspension. People in rope must have excellent in scene communication skills and be well informed on safety and risk in rope suspension. Those newer to working in suspension and partial suspension are welcome, but this should not be your first time suspending, being suspended, or working in a fast-paced, advanced level environment. Not all workshops will be on suspension technique! But we do expect all practitioners to be at the advanced level outlined here. If you’re unsure if you meet these requirements, please contact Sydona at sydona@sydonarogue.com.

Facilitators
Sydona (She/Her)
In March of 2018 Sydona found her way into the NYC rope scene and never looked back. Since then, she’s immersed herself into honing her practice, perhaps obsessively. She currently works full time as a nightlife performer, bondage artist, photographer, creator, and facilitator. In these past several years she’s traveled both within the U.S. and internationally for rope opportunities, as a performer, as a student, and more recently as an educator. Previous to 2020, Syd trained and worked as a professional modern and contemporary dancer, a background she takes great pride in, as it deeply enriches her current practice. With over thirteen years of experience as a movement artist, Sydona brings a unique, fluid, yet delightfully sadistic perspective to the world of Shibari. This is her third year of creating Peace Temple’s Shibari Retreats, which she proudly considers one of the most fulfilling experiences of her career.
Vladimir Kuperman
Host and the creator of Peace Temple. Vladimir is a leader of Peace Temple, a spiritual retreat center in the beautiful Catskill Mountains, devoted to creating and holding peaceful and inspiring community events, where creativity, spiritual growth, sustainability, respect for nature, and respect for each other are practiced. Besides hosting the retreat, Vladimir will facilitate the Central American Sauna.
