Breathwork and Sound Meditation Retreat

June 7 - June 9

Breathwork and Sound Meditation Retreat

Friday, June 7 – Sunday, June 9

There’s nothing more important in your life than your next breath. The way you breathe has immediate and profound effects on consciousness, yet most people haven’t learned to breathe efficiently. The combination of breath and sound is a timeless method of becoming present, bypassing the thinking mind, and accessing deeper parts of the self. In this retreat we will explore this potent combination in theory and practice to deepen our relationship with these vital tools for self mastery.

Recharge in the sauna, swim in the pond, enjoy nature walks and take in the sun, while our chef prepares a delicious selection of healthy meals to complement your rejuvenating experience at Peace Temple.

Retreat Benefits

  • Learn a variety of breathwork techniques for relaxation, energy, transcendence, and healing
  • Understand the physiology of breathing and how to breathe properly
  • Gain somatic awareness of the anatomical structures involved with breathing
  • Activate your singing voice as a natural consequence of proper breathing technique
  • Learn about esoteric aspects of sound and music and explore them through the voice
  • Experience the synergistic effects of breath and sound for meditation and self-exploration

The Flow

Each day will begin with some light stretching/yoga to prepare the body for the daily pranayama session. Every morning, different types of pranayama will be taught and practiced. By the end of the weekend, participants will have a toolkit for navigating and regulating their nervous system through the breath.

The breathing fundamentals and awareness workshop will discuss in detail the anatomy of breathing and the physiology of its effects on the body. Then a series of exercises will be taught that bring awareness to the body’s entire breathing apparatus, exposing mistakes and inefficiencies with the way people commonly breathe. By the end of this workshop, participants will have gained a thorough understanding of how to breathe properly with exercises to perfect their technique over time.

The evening breathwork and sound meditation will take participants on a journey deep within their consciousness, where profound psychedelic experiences and healing can occur. It will be accompanied by live music, with musical cues guiding the breathing patterns.

The esoteric aspects of sound lecture will discuss sound from its fundamental physics to its practical applications for navigating consciousness. After the breathing fundamentals workshop participants will have learned how to “open” their singing voice as a natural consequence of the correct use of the anatomy of breathing. We will explore this experientially along with harmonic concepts learned in the sound workshop in a group singing experience.

Facilitators

Josh Geisler is a veteran musician and multi-instrumentalist, who specializes in the bansuri flute. He was the bandleader of Cirque Du Soleil’s “TOTEM”, with whom he toured for 9 years, performing over 2650 shows in 45 cities around the world. After graduating from Berklee College of Music, he continued his studies in India with the legendary flutist Pandit Raghunath Seth and 14th-generation sarod maestro Pandit Vikash Maharaj. Josh is the author of “The Chromatic Bansuri: a cross-cultural guide to the North Indian bamboo flute” and all of the flutes you hear on his recordings were crafted by his own hand.

Since 1997, intrigued by the flute’s intrinsic connection to breathing, Josh has immersed himself in exploring the profound connection between music, breath, and consciousness. This dedication, fueled by years of diligent flute practice, cultivated a robust foundation for his foray into the realm of breathwork. A pivotal week-long retreat with Wim Hof in 2018 marked the beginning of this exploration. Since that transformative experience, Josh has continued his studies, crafting a unique, evidence-based approach. By harmonizing the potent energies of breath and music, he guides individuals and groups towards exploring multifaceted states of consciousness.
