5Rhythms: Metaphor and Mystery

In this retreat, we will explore the mystery of the embodied spirit through the 5Rhythms movement meditation practice. In most contexts of life, we are bound and masked by social convention: having to look good or make a particular impression. When we give our own bodies permission to move freely, our being can open to vast and mysterious landscapes of spirit and ecstasy. Moving from the depths of consciousness, our dance becomes a metaphor for our life and experience. T`his workshop is an invitation to explore these landscapes together.
Mystery of perception – What lies at the threshold of self and sensation? As we surrender to the dance of inner and outer experiences, boundaries dissolve. How do we discern the whispers of our soul from the echoes of the world? We open to the witness at the center of our being.
Mystery of impulse – What drives us to act, to take the next step, to bring our intentions to life? What part of us generates the will to move, to push beyond resistance, and to shape our desires into reality? We seek the spark at the heart.
Mystery of emptiness – when we dance to the untamed edge, and empty out, who is the one that remains? Why does the unconscious, entranced, essence feel ecstatic? We seek to step outside the fractal labyrinths of mind.
Mystery of inspiration – From where does the soul receive inspiration for play and creativity? What wind stirs it, bringing to life sparks of artistry? We seek to unlock the creativity that is truest to ourselves.
Mystery of spirit – how is it that dancing deeply, inwardly, into our own dance is what allows for greater connection with others? Where does the sense of a broader spiritual connection emerge from? We seek that way out which is the way in, deeper into ourselves.
Our dances on the dance floor are a metaphor for our life. Whether we are tired or inspired, shy or open, connected or in solitude, our dances are our lives, distilled.
Come explore your body in movement as a metaphor for your spirit.
Recharge in the sauna, swim in the pond, enjoy nature walks and take in the sun, while our chef prepares a delicious selection of healthy meals to complement your rejuvenating experience at Peace Temple.

Facilitators
Aaron Lifshin has been a 5Rhythms dancer since 2010, and has been teaching the 5Rhythms since 2016 in San Francisco, Boston and Black Rock City. Aaron brings an intellectual curiosity to the dance practice and, after these many years, remains deeply fascinated by the miracle of liberation through embodiment. Coming from an intellectual upbringing, he has moved through many worlds: an Ivy League college, the high-tech corporate sphere, the arena of politics and activism, and now runs his own software business. Aaron is part of a 5Rhythms family with wife Tina and little dancing baby Albert, who could twerk before he could walk. The 5Rhythms dance floor is a true home and source of inspiration. Aaron’s 5Rhythms teaching is grounded, playful and occasionally unpredictable.
Tina Marinic – based in San Francisco, completed the 5Rhythms teacher training in 2022. This practice has been a transformative journey for Tina, helping her feel more at home in her body and shed the burden of perfectionism and body image insecurities. Through dance, she’s come to cherish the beauty and mystery of the body. Grateful for the simple gifts of a beating heart and breath, Tina now guides others through 5Rhythms to connect with their hearts and embrace their authentic selves in all their complexity.
Vladimir Kuperman is the creator of Peace Temple – a spiritual retreat center in the beautiful Catskill Mountains, devoted to creating and holding peaceful and inspiring community events, where creativity, spiritual growth, sustainability, respect for nature, and respect for each other are practiced. Besides hosting the retreat, Vladimir takes part in the sound bath sessions, leads nature hikes and facilitates Central American Sauna.
