The Land

Peace Temple is a  seasonal spiritual retreat center in the beautiful Catskill Mountains. Located on a beautiful 67 acres of forest land, Peace Temple is. devoted to creating and holding peaceful and inspiring community events, where creativity, spiritual growth, sustainability, respect for nature, and respect for each other are practiced.

Peace Temple is located near Cannonsville Reservoir, and close to the place where the East Branch and West Branch rivers come together around Point Mountain to give birth to the Delaware river, a sacred site for the local indigenous people called “Shehawken” which translates into the Wedding of the Waters. The remoteness of the area is conducive to letting go and immersing yourself into nature.

It has taken many years to bring Peace Temple Retreat center into fruition. Years of landscaping and building structures, working with water to transform swamps into fields and to create a beautiful pond. Years of learning the rhythms and the cycles of the land.

The land is full of gifts, abundant with medicinal plants, beautiful trees, including maple, pine, cherry and wild apple trees among the few. There are crystal clear springs originating on the land and the well water that we drink is of highest quality.

There are lots of land to hike right at Peace Temple, and there is also a 600 acres of state forest within 5 minutes drive. 

Peace Temple retreat center is completely off grid with all of it’s electrical power derived from Solar Power systems. There are gardens at Peace Temple for food cultivation, rotating compost bins and recycling stations.
